LAW OF WASTED EFFORT

Ronnie Screwvala  tweeted a content from an article on the Internet and it is valuable for each of us especially those who are educators, students and parents .First read the content on more as under -

Do you know that lions only succeed in a quarter of their hunting attempts? This means, they fail in 75% of their attempts and succeed in only 25%. Despite this small percentage, they don't despair in their pursuit.

The main reason for this is not because of hunger as some might think, but it is the understanding of the “Law of Wasted Efforts” that have been instinctively built into animals, a law in which nature is governed.

Half of the eggs of fishes are eaten… half of the baby bears die before puberty… most of the world’s rains fall in oceans… and most of the seeds of trees are eaten by birds.

Scientists have found that animals, trees, and other forces of nature are more receptive to the law of “wasted efforts”.

Only humans think that the lack of success in a few attempts is failure but the truth is that: we only fail when we "stop trying".

Success is not to have a life free of pitfalls but success is to walk over your mistakes and go beyond every stage where your efforts were wasted, looking forward to the next stage.

If there is a word that summarizes this world, it will simply be: “Continue!” All over again………

To the best of my knowledge most of us have read the famous story of King Bruce and the spider as per which the spider, reaching its web in the seventh attempt, taught King Bruce a good lesson & filled him with new hope and courage thereby making him fought bravely and thus was successful in making his country free. We all took it as failures are the pillars of success with great moral - TRY & TRY AGAIN UNTIL YOU SUCCEED .

BUT, we , human beings , fall under the mercy of feelings, sadness , anger and depression as these reactions belong to man only because he is human and because it is more advanced and complete and civilised,  and because the law of conflict in nature very harsh, and free of excuses and feelings, If you do not eat it, it will eat you..... Law wasted efforts. To the contrary, they are almost absent in the animal world .

And ,  that's  the problem with most of us - look for success in life and success in school but often fail, but we despair and get frustrated in the first way. The point I wish to drive home is the NEED to adopt this law of wasted effort to deal with our failures or lesser successes properly.

To understand  law of wasted effort , let us refer to our school days' exams . Before taking a TEST, we , assuming we were studious, would have studied all the chapters of the book on the subject but made write answers to the questions of selective chapters . Thus we studied & grasped many a chapter proving irrelevant for the purpose of TEST and this is the so-called law of wasted efforts .

The bigger point is  that EXAMINATION  made  you enrich yourself by virtue of law of wasted effort. Similarly life is also a great effort to succeed in reaching one of our goals but at times we fail and then try again and then fail and stop and leave the attempt.  This is the great error that occurs in us as we , for one reason or another, fail to appreciate the law of wasted efforts as a key thing in this life . We need not give up  because reaching any goal in this life must be preceded by a large part of the wasted energy and failed attempts.
